MIAMI, Florida – This Saturday, October 22, the Draw for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand will be held at the Aotea Centre in Auckland, New Zealand in which the four Concacaf teams in the tournament – United States, Canada, Costa Rica and Jamaica -- will learn their group stage fate.
In addition, the two Concacaf teams in February’s Play-Off Tournament, Haiti and Panama, will also find out which group they would be slotted into should they emerge victorious from their respective Play-Off Group.
The 32 participating teams will be allocated into four pots based on their FIFA Women’s World Cup Rankings as of October 13, 2022.
As the current top ranked team in the world, four-time World Cup winners and two-time defending champions United States have been placed into Pot 1.
Reigning Olympic champions Canada are in Pot 2, while both Jamaica and Costa Rica will be drawn from Pot 3.
The teams involved in the Play-Off Tournament will be drawn into Pot 4. Haiti are in Play-Off Group B, while Panama are in Play-Off Group C.
The U.S. will be appearing in their ninth Women’s World Cup, while Canada will be participating in the tournament for an eighth time. Australia/New Zealand 2023 represents the second Women’s World Cup for both Costa Rica and Jamaica.
Haiti and Panama would each qualify for their first Women’s World Cup if they can win their respective Play-Off Group.
