Fishel shining with Chelsea and USWNT

United States FW Mia Fishel has excelled in showing the world that the norm is meant to be challenged.

MIAMI, Florida – There are some players that leave their mark everywhere they go, breaking records and setting a precedent on how things should get done on the field.

From collegiate to club level, United States FW Mia Fishel has excelled in showing the world that the norm is meant to be challenged.

After her successful career at UCLA and declaring herself eligible professionally one year before graduation, the 22-year-old was drafted to play in the NWSL, however, Fishel started to create her own path when she decided to instead sign with Mexican side Tigres UANL.

Becoming the first international player to win the Golden Boot in the Apertura 2022, Fishel surpassed expectations that fans had for her, making herself one of the greatest strikers in the Liga MX Femenil, helping her team win their fifth domestic title that same season.

Her skills at the club level and her previous appearances with United States Youth National Teams made her name even bigger, with clubs from all over starting to call for her. This past summer, Fishel eventually made the jump to one of the biggest ones in England, the current champions of the Women’s Super League, Chelsea FC.

Expectations were high from the moment Chelsea announced her signing, and she did not disappoint, scoring a header at Stamford Bridge on her debut.

Her league success in both Mexico and England helped her get the long-awaited call to her first official senior camp with the USWNT. Fishel had previously starred with the red, white and blue at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels.

At the U-15 Concacaf W Championship in 2016, she was named player of the tournament for her seven goals, as well as lifting the champions trophy. She also was part of the team that won the 2018 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship and the 2020 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship, giving her three regional championships.

Fishel has now earned three starts with the senior team, scoring one goal and will hope to use her experience in next February’s inaugural Concacaf W Gold Cup, in which the USWNT was drawn in Group A with Mexico, Argentina and the Prelims winner between Guyana and Dominican Republic.

With all eyes of the football world on her, Fishel is ready to keep breaking the new ground, using her talent to get the job done for both club and country, while reaching new levels and earning more trophies.
