Fleming sticking to her game-changing ways with Chelsea

Jessie Fleming and Chelsea, following her new contract, is to keep fighting to recover that top place in the WSL.
Jessie Fleming totaled six goals and four assists in 21 games for the Blues last season and has appeared in every league match this season thus far.

MIAMI – Game-changers do not only show up in one match; they’re a constant force that in any minute will dictate the course of how things are going. As she has demonstrated for both club and country, Canadian Jessie Fleming is always there to lift things up for her side.

The 24-year-old MF has proven what it’s like to compete at the highest level in every game she participates in, and continues to do so. Signed by Chelsea in 2020, she plays in the FA Women's Super League, with the Blues currently standing in third place, tied on points with the top two clubs.

This past week, she signed a contract extension to keep playing in Kingsmeadow, the home stadium of the Chelsea women’s team, until 2025, showing that she wants to keep developing in one of the most competitive and fastest growing teams in the world. Just last season, Chelsea, with Fleming as one of the key players of the squad, won the FA WSL.

Fleming totaled six goals and four assists in 21 games for the Blues last season and has appeared in every league match this season thus far.

This year, Chelsea look to be sharper than ever and are trying to reach once again the UEFA Women’s Champions League final like they did back in the 2020-21 season.

For Fleming, the challenges don’t just rest in her club. She is one of the top performers in the Women's National Team for Canada, proving so back in June at the Concacaf W Championship by finishing as one of the leading scorers in the tournament with three goals.

In Monterrey, the Canadians were Runner-ups, qualifying for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand and also earning a spot in the Olympic qualifiers for Paris 2024 where they hope to defend their title. Fleming and Canada will take the field for the Olympic playoff in September of next year against another Concacaf team, Jamaica.

Next up for Fleming and Chelsea, following her new contract, is to keep fighting to recover that top place in the WSL. Week seven will make them travel to Manchester to face Manchester City on Sunday.

Not only that, but one of their biggest challenges of the season continues when they will take on Real Madrid in their third game of this year's UWCL. The Blues will fight to retain the top spot of Group A when they welcome the Merengues into Kingsmeadow on November 20.

On both the domestic and international fronts, Chelsea know that in Fleming they have a player who can change a game in an instant and make all the difference.
