MIAMI — Jamaican women’s national team captain Khadija Shaw has written her name in club football history once again, as the English Women’s Super League Player of the Season for her performance with Manchester City during the 2023-24 campaign.
The 27-years-old forward continued reaching new heights with the Citizens, helping her team in the race for the WSL title throughout the season. She finished her season with 21 goals in 18 appearances, becoming the first Manchester City player to win the Golden Boot.
Scoring a goal every 66 minutes, giving her team a good lead in the early stages of the season, she became the first player in WSL history to score three hat-tricks in one calendar year.
Her season was cut short due to a foot injury in late April, but her impact was remarkable. As she surpassed the previous club record, she earned the title of all-time top scorer when she found the back of the net in the Manchester Derby last March to reach 68 goals.

This is not the first time Shaw’s talents get recognized. She was also named Player of the Season last year by her club, taking home the Goal of the Season award as well to add to her legendary status with City.
Shaw has previously won the Concacaf Player of the Year Award, showing her skill set with her national team for many years and being a key piece for the Reggae Girlz to become the first Caribbean Team to reach a Round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The legend of Khadija Shaw becomes greater each time she steps onto the pitch. Fans and peers will be waiting for her to return in full strength so she can keep showing why she is one of the best strikers in the world.
