MIAMI – The action doesn’t slowdown in the women’s football professional leagues of Concacaf. The NWSL and Liga MX Femenil are in the last weeks of the regular season, while the Liga Femenina in Costa Rica is just getting started.
A new week in the NWSL showed how teams are still fighting for every point, no matter the standings in the table.
With goals from Alex Morgan and Kristen McNabb, the San Diego Wave won 2-0 over the Portland Thorns on Saturday evening. The Wave now sit at the top of the table, ready to face the playoffs.
The Kansas City Current and North Carolina Courage starred in a match in which both teams had the momentum going. The Current came out victorious, downing North Carolina 3-2 to move into third place in the table.
Angel City FC is aiming for one of the final playoff spots and defeated Gotham FC 3-1, with goals from Savannah McCaskill, Cari Roccaro and Claire Emslie. They are now one point off sixth place, currently occupied by the Chicago Red Stars.

Liga MX Femenil
Liga MX Femenil played a midweek slate of games along with its usual weekend schedule, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
After 10 weeks, Necaxa shocked everyone on Saturday afternoon by winning their first match of the season, getting goals from Alejandra Guerrero and Sabina Velazquez to beat Club Queretaro 2-0.
Jermaine Seoposenwe, FC Juarez’s new signing from South Africa, made her debut last Thursday and gave FC Juarez the victory over current champions and first place holders, Chivas, 1-0.
One of the most anticipated matches of the week didn’t disappoint, as Club America won 3-1 over Xolos Femenil. Spanish international Andrea Pereira, the latest signing for the Aguilas, made her debut in the starting XI, scoring a goal for her new team.
The Torneo Clausura of the Liga Femenina of Costa Rica got off to a rocking start over the last week.
After winning their opener against Suva Sports, LD Alajuelense arrived to their second game of the season in the Clasico Nacional vs. Saprissa and won 4-3 on goals from Jennie Lakip, Mia Corbin (2) and Marinelis Oporta.
On Wednesday night, Sporting FC won their opening match 1-0 over Municipal Pococi. They then went on and won their second game of the week 5-0 over Perez Zeledon. Cristin Granados (3), Daniela Mesen and Carol Sanchez were the goal scorers, lifting their team to first place in the table.
After a 4-1 loss against Saprissa in their first game of the season, CS Herediano bounced back with a 1-0 win over Municipal Pococi. Celeste Jimenez was the only goalscorer of the night.
