MIAMI – Clubs across Concacaf are reaching the most important stage of their competitions, with every player ready to leave everything on the pitch.

Here are three top stories from last week’s Concacaf W league action.

Hollywood ending in Los Angeles

Late surprises in the NWSL continue to happen, this time with the Houston Dash taking a 1-0 win against Angel City FC last Sunday. Both teams were in a deadlock through ninety minutes, having chances to get the win on many different occasions.

It wasn’t until the last breath of injury time, in the 90’+8, that Paige Nielsen struck inside the box off a corner kick, sending the ball to the low right side of the net to give the Houston Dash the win against her former club.

This is the second win for the Houston Dash this season under new head coach Fran Alonso. The Texas team rose to 10th place in the standings with nine points, just one behind Angel City, who is at the 9th position.

Mexico closer to crowning a champion

The semifinals of the Clausura 2024 in Liga MX Femenil are set and defending champions Tigres UANL remain in the hunt to be back-to-back champions.

After defeating FC Juarez 1-0 in the first leg, the Amazons sealed the deal with a 1-1 home draw on Monday evening, winning 2-1 on aggregate.

Down only by one, Las Bravas didn’t hold back trying to equal the global score, doing so in the 64’ thanks to the actions of Prisca Chilufya. The current champions, however, only needed one goal and got it in the 90'+3 via a header from Maricarmen Reyes, securing Tigres’ spot in the semifinals.

Monterrey, Pachuca and Club America were victorious in their second leg matches to advance and round out the final four. Rayadas and Pachuca will meet for one spot in the finals while Club America and Tigres UANL will play for the other ticket to the grand finale.

Dimas Escazu climbing the ranks in Costa Rica

The teams of the Apertura 2024 of Costa Rica’s Primera Division are putting on shows every week. Last Friday, Dimas Escazu continued building on their position as one of the top teams in the table, defeating Sporting FC 2-0 to reach 18 points.

The author of the two goals was Katrina Wetherell, who opened her tally in the 47’ to give her team an early lead in the second half. The player kept momentum going by completing her brace in the 68’, finding the back of the net once again to help her team secure the three points.
