Morgan keeps scoring in NWSL, while Cuellar leads Xolas

Another week of the women’s professional leagues across Concacaf came to a close, with every game being full of excitement.

MIAMI – Another week of the women’s professional leagues across Concacaf came to a close, with every game being full of excitement.

With just a few weeks left in the NWSL regular season, teams are fighting for every point.

 

  • Diana Ordonez added two more goals to her count, risinmg to third place in the Golden Boot race with 10 goals, while Fuka Nagano and Rylee Baisden scored a goal each to help the North Carolina Courage win 4-0 over the Chicago Red Stars.

 

  • The San Diego Wave earned a 3-1 win over the Houston Dash on Saturday evening. Alex Morgan scored her 50th career goal in the NWSL, giving her 12 goals this season. Amirah Ali scored the second one for The Wave, followed by Sofia Jakobsson scoring her first NWSL goal. Ebony Salmon achieved the only goal of the evening for the Dash.
  • The Orlando Pride are eighth place in the table after posting a 2-1 away win over Gotham FC. Celia Jimenez and Ally Watt tallied the goals for the visitors, while Kristie Mewis scored for Gotham.

 

Liga MX Femenil just finished week 8, with some results that had fans on the Edge of their seats until the final whistle.

 

  • On Saturday, Cruz Azul bounced back with a 3-0 win over Necaxa. Renata Huerta and Ana Garcia scored the first two goals of the afternoon, while Mirelle Arciniega got the third goal of the day via penalty kick. Cruz Azul are now in eighth place, the last spot for the Liguilla.

 

  • Pumas suffered their first loss since July, falling 4-1 against Tijuana. Marylin Diaz scored the first one of the evenings for Pumas, but then it was all Xolas. Renae Cuellar equalized for Xolas, Angelina Hix added two more goals for Tijuana and then Cuellar showed up again, scoring the fourth goal via penalty.

 

  • Las Bravas of FC Juarez managed to score two late goals to claim a 2-1 win against Toluca. Brenda Woch scored the only goal of the night for Las Diablas in the first half. In the 79’, Andrea Hernandez tied the game for Las Bravas and, before the final whistle, Paola Gonzalez scored the goal that gave FC Juarez their second win of the season.
