MIAMI – The domestic leagues for women's football in Europe have just started, with challenges and key matches already happening. For Canada international Julia Grosso and the rest of the Juventus squad, this is no exception.
After earning the runner-up position at the Concacaf W Championship earlier this summer with Canada, following up on her Gold Medal success at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Grosso went back to Italy to get her European season started.
Juventus had a short but successful pre-season, winning their friendlies and showing why they are always a team to keep an eye on.
To kick off Grosso and her team's journey to defend their title, the current Serie A champions made their debut against FCF Como 2000. Grosso was key to this successful opener, downing Como 6-0. She appeared in the starting XI, delivering an assist for the fourth goal of the evening.
But keeping the Scudetto in Turin is not the only challenge for Juventus, as they’re also looking to be part of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. They will try to improve upon their performance from last season, when they got as far as the Quarterfinals.
The first round of UWCL qualification started against Racing FC, as they defeated the Luxembourg team 4-0. Grosso was part of the starting XI, playing the full 90 minutes, helping her team get this result.

The second match into their UWCL season was against Kiryat Gat. Juventus won 3-1, getting into Round 2 to keep their ambitions going of playing in the most prestigious European tournament.
The draw for the second round of qualifiers of the UWCL took place on Thursday morning, with Danish team HB Koge set to serve as the next opponent.
This is only the beginning for Grosso and the Bianconere, as they also will start their campaign to defend their Italian Cup title, as well as preparing for their next Serie A match against Inter Milan.
After fans in Concacaf bore witness to Grosso's great vision and hunger for victory a few months back at the CWC in Monterrey, she is primed to do that again in her club season, as things are just getting started for her and Juventus in Italy and Europe.
