MIAMI — Women’s soccer from Concacaf W leagues continues to make headlines, with Jacqueline Ovalle’s epic goal in Liga MX Femenil still garnering conversation worldwide.

The Tigres UANL Femenil star is reaching her best form as the countdown continues to the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals. Mexican side Club América and U.S. clubs NJ/NY Gotham FC and Portland Thorns will also compete to be the inaugural champions in May.

NWSL Challenge Cup: Washington Spirit win first title of 2025

 Ahead of the 2025 NWSL season opening weekend, the 2024 finalists met in the 2025 NWSL Challenge Cup at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Reigning NWSL Championship and Shield winners Orlando Pride were matched 1-1 at home by Washington Spirit, as Rafaelle and Leicy Santos traded goals.

The Spirit went on to win the Challenge Cup 4-2 on penalties.

USL Super League: Dallas Trinity gets statement win against Brooklyn FC

 The USL Super League continued its 2024/25 season with a potential shift in power, beginning with Dallas Trinity FC's 6-nil victory against league leaders Brooklyn FC.

Fort Lauderdale United FC drew 1-1 with Tampa Bay Sun FC to stay in second, but only by goal difference as Carolina Ascent FC matched them on 28 points with a win at Spokane Zephyr FC.

Lexington SC won 2-nil at DC Power FC in the weekend’s other encounter. Brooklyn, Fort Lauderdale, Carolina, and Dallas remain in the playoff picture, with the first and fourth places separated by four points.

Liga MX Femenil: Ovalle continues excellent form as Tigres UANL surge

CF Pachuca drew 2-2 at CF Monterrey to retain first place in the Liga MX Femenil Clausura 2025 standings. Las Tuzas were once again led by Charlyn Corral, who struck a brace, including the match-tying penalty in the 90’+10, improving to 17 goals in the Golden Boot race.

Club América took a 1-1 draw at CD Guadalajara in the female version of the Clásico de México to stay within one point of the top spot. Las Águilas took a point on the road thanks to a 90’+6 goal from Kiana Palacios.

Third place Pumas UNAM pulled within four points of first place with a 5-nil victory against Mazatlán FC. Nayely Bolaños stood out with a brace in that meeting.

Tigres UANL won 4-nil at Necaxa with a brace from Jheniffer Da Silva, a goal from Chrestinah Kgatlana and an own goal from Karen De León, who struck the ball in her net trying to defend a dangerous service into the box from Jacqueline Ovalle. Ovalle struck one of the year's best goals in the previous encounter as Tigres Femenil continues to surge, improving to five consecutive wins and eight unbeaten.

 

 

Rayadas remained in fifth place with the draw to Pachuca, separated on goal difference from sixth-place FC Juárez, who won 1-nil against Atlas. Chivas and Querétaro round out the top eight.
