SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – Honduras struck for the last two goals in the final minute of play to post a 5-3 win over Trinidad & Tobago in the second leg of a qualifying playoff for a berth in the 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship on Thursday at BN Arena.
The Catrachos captured the series 6-4 on aggregate and will join Guatemala, Mexico and Panama in Group A.
Carlos Montes broke a 3-3 tie with 56 seconds left on the clock, while Antonio Moncada added an insurance goal 30 seconds later, as Honduras reached the CFC finals for the first-ever time.
In a tightly-contested encounter, a majority of the goals were scored in the first half.
Juan Hernandez gave the Central Americans a 1-0 in the lead in the third minute, only for Kerry Joseph to level seconds later with his second goal in as many games.
Ishmael Daniel put the Soca Warriors ahead in the 10th minute, but Honduras took a 3-2 lead on 16th minute goals by Luis Rivera and Hasser Ortiz.
The sides were brought on level terms by Jameel Neptune a minute later. The Trinidadians, however, would not get on the scoreboard again.
The CONCACAF Futsal Championship will be played May 8-14, 2016, at the BN Arena in San Jose, Costa Rica.
