TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – The Honduran Football Federation (FENAFUTH) announced on Thursday that Fabian Coito has been appointed as Head Coach of the Honduran Men’s Senior National Team.
Coito has served as the Head Coach of the Under-20 National Team of his native Uruguay since 2007 and is now tasked with qualifying Honduras for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“The Honduran Football Federation via the Commission of National Teams would like to inform the general public and Honduran fans in particular that after an exhaustive analyzing process and review of managers to lead the process for World Cup qualifying for Qatar 2022, that it has decided on the hiring of Uruguayan Fabian Coito Machado as National Team Coach of Honduras,” said FENAFUTH in a statement.
Coito will be officially introduced next week at a press conference in Tegucigalpa in which the other members of his coaching staff will also be introduced.
Joining Coito’s staff are Miguel Falero Correa, Sebastian Urrutia de Freitas and Carlos Tabora.
Coito is scheduled to make his debut as Honduras Head Coach on March 26 in an international friendly versus Ecuador in New York.
