Official Name
Grenada will be back at the Concacaf Gold Cup for the fourth time in their history, following showings in 2009, 2011, and 2021.
The Spice Boys have inserted themselves into the conversation as one of the stronger teams in the Caribbean; now they need to take the next step and get results in a major tournament.
While they have yet to record a result in their nine matches thus far, the Caribbean island have shown steady improvement in their appearances, bolstered by goals from Clive Murray and Romar Frank, who are the country’s all-time top scorers in the Gold Cup with a goal apiece.
Anthony Modeste leads the Spice Boys in Gold Cup appearances with six, with four players tied with five games.
Last cycle Grenada dazzled their way through the Nations League B but hit some turbulence in a very tough group at the 2021 Gold Cup and then the subsequent Nations League A. The Spice Boys are armed with more experience than ever before. They’ve spent the past several years playing competitive matches against top teams, and have learned a few things in the process.
And despite finishing in third place in their group, Grenada showed some spark in their recent League A campaign. Both matches against El Salvador, especially the 2-2 draw earned at home at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium, demonstrated that the team still has the capabilities to compete on the region's biggest stage.
Jamal Charles remains the biggest goal scoring threat, with his lofty lifetime total of seven Nations League goals being far and away the highest on the team. Jacob Berkeley Agyepong notched one goal and one assist during the recent League A cycle.
Goalkeeper Jason Belfon has been a stalwart between the posts for over a decade now, and remains a key figure in the team. In a single match knockout format like the Prelims, a trusted goalkeeper can be an immensely important asset.
Grenada are set to play Guyana at the DRV PNK Stadium in the first preliminary round on June 17. If they advance, they will face the winner of Guadeloupe/Antigua and Barbuda for a place in Group A.
