Team Profile
After more than two decades as an associate member, the Ligue de Football de la Guyana, known to fans in the region as French Guiana, became a full member of Concacaf in 2013.
It didn’t take long for the team on the field to make its presence known as well, with French Guyana nabbing wins in the 2012 and 2014 Caribbean Cup before winning third place in 2017 and moving into the Concacaf Gold Cup for the first time.
Les Yana Dokos held their own in the first-ever edition of the Concacaf Nations League, keeping their spot in League B despite a difficult group.
French Guiana finished with a 2W-2D-2L record in a group that saw Grenada take top honors, with French Guiana finishing ahead of Belize and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
With the second-place finish, French Guiana moved into Gold Cup qualification and narrowly missed out on a spot in the group stage of the tournament for the second time in its history. After a tightly fought 1-1 draw with Trinidad and Tobago, the Soca Warriors won an extended penalty shootout at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to move into the next round.
However, that should only serve as a reminder for French Guiana and fans around Concacaf that this team is capable of plenty and will do everything it can to get back to the Gold Cup and find its way into League A.
