Nations League and W Champions Cup highlights This Week in Concacaf

MIAMI — Men’s international soccer will be in the spotlight this week as the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League concludes its October 2024 FIFA Match Window.

In club soccer, the inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup will conclude the group stage with three spots to be decided for the Finals.

The eyes of the world will be on the Concacaf region as well as the Dominican Republic hosts the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, which kicks off on Wednesday and lasts for nearly three weeks.

Here’s what is on tap across the region:

Concacaf Nations League

The race to the 2025 CNL Finals continues as nations in League A seek to finish among the top two in Groups A and B on Monday and Tuesday. The group winners and second place teams will advance to the quarterfinals.

League B will also see encounters on Monday and Tuesday as the race for promotion continues.

League C concludes its action on Tuesday featuring a battle for first place in Group C between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Cayman Islands.

Also at play across the three leagues is the qualification for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup. Either a direct berth or a spot in the preliminaries is at stake for all participating nations.

Concacaf W Champions Cup

The inaugural W Concacaf Champions Cup is reaching finality with its final matchweek of the group stage taking place with matches on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC will host the Portland Thorns in a rivalry match between Pacific Northwest teams on Tuesday.

Wednesday features two matches between first and second place teams as NJ/NY Gotham FC and Tigres UANL Femenil meet for the top spot in Group A. San Diego Wave and Club América Femenil will play for the top of Group B.

CF Monterrey Femenil and LD Alajuelense close out the week as the lone encounter on Thursday.

FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

Hosts Dominican Republic, Mexico and the United States are representing the Concacaf region at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024. The two non-host nations qualified as the finalists of the 2024 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship.

Defending champions Spain clash with the USA as part of the opening matches on Wednesday. The Dominican Republic meet Ecuador as part of the closing matches of the opening matchday. Mexico will begin its campaign on Thursday against Korea DPR.

The second round of group stage matches begins on Saturday as the Dominican Republic face New Zealand and the USA play Colombia. Mexico will meet England in its second encounter on Sunday.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The knockout stage will begin at the end of next week.
