Canada, Curaçao play for first place in U-17 Men’s Qualifiers

MIAMIThe 2025 Concacaf U-17 Men’s Qualifiers continues with eight matches on Thursday in the ongoing quest of 35 nations playing for the eight Concacaf berths at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

A change at the top of Groups A, B, C, and E could be in store depending on the day’s encounters. Curaçao and Canada in Group A will feature a direct battle for first place.

 Group A

Curaçao vs. Canada

Curaçao meets Canada in Group A at the National Sports Centre in Devonshire Parish, Bermuda.

Both nations have started their respective campaigns with six points and seek to take sole possession of first place.

Canada’s latest victory came in an 8-nil win against Anguilla on Tuesday. Aidan Evans struck a brace and co-leads the team in scoring alongside Marius Aiyenero, Kevin Khan, and Sergei Kozlovskiy with two goals each.

Curaçao earned a 2-nil win against the Turks and Caicos Islands with goals from Dayvi Busby and Miglennjaydion Polonius. Busby leads the team in scoring with three goals.

 Turks and Caicos Islands vs. Bermuda

 Turks and Caicos Islands meets Bermuda in Group A at the National Sports Centre in Devonshire Parish, Bermuda.

After starting its campaign with a victory, Turks and Caicos seeks to recover from consecutive defeats. The latest defeat came in a 2-nil loss to Curaçao on Tuesday.

Bermuda seeks to build on a 3-1 victory over Anguilla on Sunday. Kennahz Fray scored a brace and leads the team with three goals.

Group B

Sint Maarten vs. Trinidad and Tobago

 Sint Maarten meets Trinidad and Tobago in Group B at Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica.

After three consecutive defeats, Sint Maarten seeks to exit the tournament with its first set of points.

Trinidad and Tobago looks to improve after gaining a 3-1 victory against the British Virgin Islands on Sunday. Josiah Kallicharan struck twice and leads the squad with two goals.

Guyana vs. Costa Rica

 Guyana meets Costa Rica in Group B at Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica.

The Golden Jaguars eye the first-place spot, which they can gain with a victory, after earning their first three points of the campaign. Shaquan David, Quaency Fraser, and Jaden Harris scored in the latest victory.

Costa Rica leads the group and seeks to inch closer to sealing the top spot and the coveted berth to the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Los Ticos started their campaign with consecutive wins with Isaac Badilla leading the attack with four goals.

Group C

Dominica vs. Nicaragua

Dominica meets Nicaragua in Group C at the Mexican Football Federation facilities in Toluca, Mexico.

Entering its final match, Dominica seeks to depart with its first win of the campaign.

Nicaragua looks to stay in the race for first place and maintain its perfect record. Juban Uriarte leads the team with five goals.

Barbados vs. Mexico

 Barbados meets Mexico in Group C at the Mexican Football Federation facilities in Toluca, Mexico.

The Tridents seek a second victory after a 1-nil win against Dominica. A win against the group leaders would keep Barbados in the mix for the top spot.

Mexico seeks its third consecutive win after a 3-0 victory against Belize. Luis Gamboa, Máximo Reyes, and Jorge Sánchez found the back of the net for the hosts in the latest encounter.

Group E

Antigua and Barbuda vs. Haiti

Antigua and Barbuda meets Haiti in Group E at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

The Benna Boys seek to rebound after a 2-1 loss to Guatemala in its opening match. Sakidi Meade struck the lone goal for Antigua and Barbuda.

Haiti seeks to build on a 5-nil win against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Nikolai Pierre scored a brace and leads the team with two goals.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines vs. Guatemala

 Saint Vincent and the Grenadines meets Guatemala in Group E at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

The Vincy Heat seeks to rebound from defeat against Haiti in its opening encounter.

Guatemala seeks to build on a 2-1 win against Antigua and Barbuda to open its campaign. Andrés García and Marvin Ávila scored for Los Chapines.
