El Salvador, Panama, and USA seek to build on strong starts in U-17 Men’s Qualifiers

MIAMIThe 2025 Concacaf U-17 Men’s Qualifiers continues with eight matches on Wednesday in the ongoing quest of 35 nations fighting for the eight Concacaf berths at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Play resumes with the second day of activities in Groups D, F, G, and H. Puerto Rico, the United States, Panama, and El Salvador look to maintain their leads as first place in their respective groups.

Group D

Saint Martin vs. Puerto Rico

Saint Martin meets Puerto Rico in Group D at Estadio Francisco Morazán in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Puerto Rico seeks to maintain first place in the group after a 3-nil win against Bonaire. Matthew Belgodere and Eddiel Marquez scored in the victory, with the latter earning a brace.

Saint Martin will seek to rebound after a 3-1 loss to Honduras. Jahnael Charlery-adele forced an own goal in that encounter.

Bonaire vs. Honduras

 Bonaire meets Honduras in Group D at Estadio Francisco Morazán in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Honduras seeks to build on a 3-1 victory against Saint Martin. Yeison Arriola, David Flores, and Marco Reyes scored for Los Catrachos and seek to build on their tallies.

Bonaire seeks its first victory after starting with a 3-nil defeat against Puerto Rico.

Group F

U.S. Virgin Islands vs. Cuba

 The U.S. Virgin Islands meets Cuba in Group F at Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica.

Cuba seeks to build on a 3-1 victory against Saint Kitts and Nevis. Lazaro Díaz struck a brace, and Cristian Bravo added the third to deliver the comeback victory.

The USVI will seek for their first victory and set of points after falling to the United States on Monday.

Saint Kitts and Nevis vs. United States

 Saint Kitts and Nevis meets the United States in Group F at Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica.

Saint Kitts and Nevis seeks to rebound from a 3-1 defeat to Cuba. Franklyn Mitcham scored the lone goal for the Sugar Boyz.

The United States looks to build on a 22-nil victory against the U.S. Virgin Islands. Chase Adams took the lead as the top scorer in the tournament with 10 goals.

The United States achieved the largest goal-margin victory ever recorded in Concacaf tournaments and became the first Concacaf team across all categories to score 22 goals in a single match.The 22-0 result is the second-largest scoreline ever recorded in an official national team match, following Australia’s 31-0 win over American Samoa on April 11, 2001, during the FIFA World Cup Korea & Japan 2002 qualifiers.

Chase Adams of the United States became the second-highest goal scorer in a single official match, after Archie Thompson of Australia, who scored 13 goals against American Samoa in 2001.

Adams surpassed Norwegian star Erling Haaland, who scored 9 goals in a single match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019 against Honduras.The United States also became the first team in Concacaf tournament history to score 14 goals in the first half, marking the second-highest total of first-half goals in an official national team match, behind Australia’s 16 goals against American Samoa in 2001.

 

 

Group G

Grenada vs. Dominican Republic

Grenada faces the Dominican Republic in Group G at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.

Grenada aims for its first victory after falling 8-nil against Panama in its opening encounter.

The Dominican Republic looks to build on a 1-nil win against Aruba. Ismahel Saidani scored the lone goal of that encounter.

Aruba vs. Panama

Aruba faces Panama in Group G at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama. 

Aruba will seek to get its first set of points after falling to the Dominican Republic by the minimal difference. 

Panama looks to build on an 8-nil win against Grenada. Mikel Prado struck a hat-trick to lead Los Canaleros in the scoring department.

Group H

Cayman Islands vs. Jamaica

The Cayman Islands meets Jamaica in Group H at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

The Cayman Islands seeks its first victory after falling to El Salvador in its opening encounter.

Jamaica won 3-1 against Saint Lucia to open its campaign. Seymour Reid, Dario White, and Jahmarie Nolan found the back of the net for the Reggae Boyz.

Saint Lucia vs. El Salvador

 El Salvador won 8-nil against the Cayman Islands in Group H at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

La Selecta seeks to increase its lead atop the group after opening with a 8-nil against the Cayman Islands. Luis Tobar and Rafael Inojosa each struck twice in the first half to earn their braces.

Saint Lucia looks to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat to Jamaica. Shevon Byron struck the lone goal for Saint Lucia.
