MIAMI – The United States earned a 2-nil win against Nigeria in the quarterfinals of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Saturday at CFC Stadium in Santiago De Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.
Right before the stroke of halftime, Nigerian midfielder Shakirat Moshood committed a foul in the box in the 40’ to concede a penalty kick for the United States.
Kennedy Fuller converted from the penalty attempt in the 43’ to place the United States in front before halftime.
Kimmi Ascanio extended the U.S. lead in the 74’, with Fuller supplying the assist from midfield.
The U.S. held on defensively to see out the victory and secure its place in the semifinals. Goalkeeper Evan Osteen collected her third clean sheet of the tournament.
The United States will return to CFC Stadium in Santiago De Los Caballeros on Wednesday to play for a spot in the final. The U.S. is the lone Concacaf representative in the tournament and is seeking to win its first FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup title.
