MIAMI, Florida – The United States have won the 2024 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship crown after defeating host nation Mexico 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the headquarters of the Mexican Football Federation in Toluca, Mexico.

United States 4-0 Mexico

The United States won their fourth consecutive Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship title by defeating Mexico 4-0.

It is the fourth straight Final victory against El Tricolor for the U.S. and their sixth overall Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship title.

The U.S. came out strong and grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 11’ when the Mexican defense failed to clear a corner kick and Mya Townes was there to pounce and score for a 1-0 U.S. lead.

Not content to just sit a one-goal lead, the U.S. looked to double the margin and their second score arrived in the 23’ on beautifully-crafted team goal in which Kennedy Fuller slid a pass into Caroline Helfrich, who played across into Kimmi Ascanio and it was an easy finish for a 2-0 lead.

The U.S. attack was flying and quickly it became 3-0 in the 28’ when a piercing run from Fuller ended with a deep cross that was turned into the Mexican net by Mexico DF Adrianna Gonzalez.

Mexico attempted to pull a goal back in the second half, but instead it was the U.S. stretching the lead to 4-0 in the 62’ when a clearance from Mexico GK Camila Vazquez deflected off a defender and rolled right to Alexandra Pfeiffer, who had an easy stroke into net to complete the final scoreline.

Canada 4-1 Haiti

Canada finished their CMU17 on a high note with a 4-1 victory versus Haiti in the Third-Place Match.

Haiti enjoyed the stronger start of the two sides, as Lourdjina Etienne gave the Caribbean nation an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when she got on the end of a long ball hoofed up-field and headed past onrushing Canada GK Noelle Henning for her eighth goal of the tournament.

Canada is the team that has achieved the 3rd place most times in the CWU17C with 5 (2008, 2016, 2018, 2022, 2024.

Canada would eventually respond and scored all four of their goals in a nine-minute span ranging from the very end of the first half to the start of the second half.

The hero was Kaylee Hunter, who notched a hat trick, beginning with the 1-1 equalizer in the 45+3’ with a long-range free kick. Hunter then gave Canada a 2-1 lead less than a minute after the re-start when an interception led to a finish from close-range.

Liana Tarasco stretched it to 3-1 in the 51’ by rounding the goalkeeper and finishing into an open net, before Hunter polished off her hat-trick in the 53’ through a right-footed finish to complete the 4-1 scoreline.
