MIAMI, Florida – Both Canada and Saints Kitts and Nevis were on target in their Group G meetings on Sunday at the 2022 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship at the Estadio
Panamericano in San Cristobal.
Canada now have six points through two matches thanks to a 4-0 triumph over El Salvador.
Miya Grant-Clavijo opened the scoring in the 26’, followed by Olivia Smith in the 50’.
Serita Thurton then made sure there would be no El Salvador comeback, as she scored two straight
goals in the 63’ and 77’ to nail down the three points for the Canadians.
Saints Kitts and Nevis flexed their scoring muscles in a commanding 7-2 win versus Trinidad and Tobago.
The big contributors for Saints Kitts and Nevis were Jahzara Claxton and Iyanla Bailey-Williams,
who each notched a hat trick.
Bailey-Williams led the way at the start with scores in the 6’, 8’ and 30’. Claxton found her first in the 22’ and then on each side of halftime, with goals in the 45”4’ and the 48’. Ellie Stokes then completed the scoring in the 61’ for Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Trinidad and Tobago did not go empty-handed, however, with Maria-Frances Serrant scoring in the 33’ and Shurella Mendez finding the back of the net in the 75’.
