Women’s U-20 Qualifiers kicks off with six matches

MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Qualifiers begins, with action kicking off in Groups B, D, and F across the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.

The qualifiers will see 24 nations compete to determine the six who will advance to the 2025 Concacaf U-20 Women’s Championship, which will determine the four Concacaf representatives to the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Group B

Puerto Rico vs. U.S. Virgin Islands

Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands will kick things off in Group B at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

This will be the second-ever encounter in the qualifiers for the two nations. The previous meeting came back in 2002, when the Boricuas were victorious.

This will be Puerto Rico’s seventh CWU20Q appearance. The nation has advanced to the Championship three times (2020, 2022, and 2023), their best result being in 2022, when they finished fourth place in the tournament. 

The U.S. Virgin Islands will play to get to their first CWU20 Final Round. This is their seventh appearance in the CWU20Q.

El Salvador vs. Honduras 

El Salvador and Honduras face off in Group B at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The two meet for the third time in the U-20 category.

Both teams know what it is to qualify for the next stage. El Salvador has three appearances in the final round and reached the quarterfinals in their last appearance. Honduras has advanced further in the Final Round, finishing third place as hosts of the 2015 tournament.

Group D 

Jamaica vs. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 

Jamaica and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines meet in Group D at Estadio Nacional de Fútbol in Managua, Nicaragua.

This will be the second time these teams share the pitch in the qualifying stage. Jamaica claimed victory in 2015 and has been part of the Final Round on 12 occasions. The best result for the Reggae Girlz was in 2006, finishing fourth place in the Championship.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will look to make a statement by playing for their first win against Jamaica. The Vincy Heat aspires to qualify for the Final Round for the first time.

Nicaragua vs. Saint Kitts and Nevis

Nicaragua hosts Saint Kitts and Nevis in Group D at Estadio Nacional de Fútbol in Managua, Nicaragua. This first encounter between the two will write a new chapter in the U-20 category.

La Azul y Blanco is a constant presence in the CWU20Q, having been part of this stage ten times, from 2002 to 2023, and qualifying for the Final Round four times.

With eight appearances in the CWU20Q, Saint Kitts and Nevis has managed to qualify to the next round on two occasions, 2020 and 2022, and reached the Round of 16 in the latter for its best result in the tournament.

Group F 

Costa Rica vs. Aruba 

Costa Rica meets Aruba in Group F at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago. The two nations meet for the first time in the U-20 category.

Las Ticas have nine CWU20 qualifiers appearances, getting to the Final Round seven times and reaching the podium three times. Costa Rica’s best finish came as third place in the 2004, 2010, and 2014 editions.

Aruba continues to write its history in the U-20 category. This 2025 appearance is its second after making its debut in 2014. The nation seeks to advance to the Final Round for the first time.

Guatemala vs. Cayman Islands 

Guatemala meets the Cayman Islands in Group F at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago. This will be a first-time encounter between these two nations at the U-20 stage. 

Guatemala will be playing its eight CWU20Q, having advanced to the Final Round on five occasions (2010, 2012, 2014, 2020, and 2022). The best finish for the nation was reaching the quarterfinals in the 2022 edition.
