SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras – Already in the midst of preseason training, Honduras’ Real España continues to strengthen its roster ahead of the 2014 Apertura, announcing Monday the acquisition of Kevin Espinoza.
The outside midfielder, who signed a one-year contract, joins the Aurinegros from 2014 Clausura runner-up Marathon. In two years with the Monstruo Verde, Espinoza played in 38 domestic league matches -- 32 as a starter -- and scored one goal.
Additionally, the 21-year-old made one CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) appearance in a 2-1 victory over Trinidad & Tobago’s Caledonia AIA in September 2012.
Espinoza will get a chance to add to that total, when Real España returns to the continental competition this August against Group 1 opponents Pachuca and Municipal.
Internationally, he won a gold medal with the Honduras under-21 national team at the 2013 Central American Games.
