Concacaf is looking ahead to a great set of Gold Cup Quarterfinal matches, starting tonight with a sold-out State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona for El Salvador v Qatar followed by Mexico v Honduras.

The Confederation has urged all attending fans to support their teams positively and show respect to opposition team players and everyone involved in the game.

Throughout the Gold Cup Concacaf been activating its What’s Wrong Is Wrong campaign at matches and on social media to make it very clear to fans that discriminatory language is not acceptable at Concacaf competitions.

Fans who shout the “goalkeeper chant” or other discriminatory chants have been ejected without refunds and this policy will again be in place tonight at State Farm Stadium. Additionally, Concacaf’s anti-discrimination protocols include a provision a match to be suspended in the event of persistent chanting.

“The passion of the fans is what makes Gold Cup so special, and we go into sellout Quarterfinals at State Farm Stadium tonight looking forward to two great matches,” said Concacaf General Secretary, Philippe Moggio. “We will be activating our What’s Wrong Is Wrong campaign at the stadium, making very clear to fans that if they engage in the offensive ‘goalkeeper chant’ or other discriminatory chanting, they will be ejected without a refund. If fans persistently chant, the game could also be suspended, disrupting the football on the field and ruining the spectacle for the majority who support their team positively and treat the opposition, and everyone involved in the match, with respect. We encourage all fans to enjoy the game with passionate and positive support”, added Moggio.

The Gold Cup Quarterfinals at State Farm Stadium tonight begin with Qatar v El Salvador at 4:30pm local (7:30pm ET) followed by Mexico v Honduras at 7pm local (10pm ET).
