CHESTER, Pennsylvania – The match for third place in the CONCACAF Gold Cup returns for the first time in 12 years as the United States and Panama battle in a rematch of the 2013 final at PPL Park. Earlier in this tournament, they also played to a 1-1 Group A draw on July 13 in Kansas City, Kansas.

The consolation encounter was contested six times in the first seven editions of the competition from 1991 to 2003; there was no similar match in 2000.

The United States has come up victorious a record two times, defeating Guatemala (3-0) and Costa Rica (3-2) in 1996 and 2003, respectively.

In 1993, Costa Rica and Jamaica shared the honors after a 1-1 draw.

CONCACAF.com takes a look back at the previous six Gold Cup third-place matches.
