GUATEMALA CITY – On the heels of a runner-up finish at the 2014 Central American Cup, Guatemala will face host Peru in an international friendly on October 14 in Lima, the Federación Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala confirmed Tuesday.
It will be the first meeting between the sides since they played to a 0-0 draw on August 27, 2003, also in Lima.
Guatemala has won five of its six games under the direction of new head coach Ivan Sopegno. The only loss came against Costa Rica, 2-1, in the Central American Cup final last month in Los Angeles. With their performances in that competition, the Chapines qualified for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
