WOLVERHAMPTON, England -- English Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers announced Friday that it has signed Haiti international Duckens Nazon to a six-month contract with an option for a one-year extension.
The 22-year-old forward most recently played in 2016 with Kerala Blasters of the Indian Super League, where he scored two goals in 12 appearances. Nazon -- Haiti’s leading scorer in both the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup (2 goals) and CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (3 goals) -- is delighted for the move to England.
“It is a very good feeling to sign for Wolverhampton Wanderers,” he said. “It has always been my dream to play in England and to get this opportunity is truly rewarding for me and my family. I vow to do my best for this club and ensure we push hard to get promotion to the English Premier League.”
With Haiti bidding to qualify to qualify for this year’s Gold Cup, Nazon believes that playing in England will aid his country’s international efforts.
“In England the game is very physical,” the former and Stade Lavallois player. “I believe I can grow physically and mentally and this will overlap for my country as we push for a spot in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. I am a young player, so I feel the best is yet to come for me.”
