MEXICO CITY – Mexico will prepare for July’s CONCACAF Gold Cup by facing Ghana in an international friendly on June 28, at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, it was announced Wednesday.
In two all-time meetings between them, Mexico is a perfect 2W-0D-0L against the African power, winning 1-0 in 2006 and 2-1 in 2008.
NRG Stadium (formerly known as Reliant Stadium) has been the venue for 15 previous matches involving Mexico, including those in the Gold Cup, World Cup Qualifying and last year’s historic Copa America Centenario.
Mexico will open Gold Cup play against Group C rival El Salvador on July 9 in San Diego, California, before facing Jamaica (July 13, Denver, Colorado) and Curacao (July 16, San Antonio, Texas).
