Barbados, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Belize gain group lead in League C

MIAMI – League C continued in the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League with three first-time CNL encounters across each group on Saturday.

All three winners of the day’s encounters obtained first place in their respective groups. It also marked a winning start to the campaigns for Belize, Barbados, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Turks and Caicos Islands vs. Belize

Belize won 4-nil against Turks and Caicos Islands as Group B continued at TCIFA National Stadium in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.

Orlando Velasquez scored the first goal for the visitors in the 12' with a header inside the box to connect on a free kick service from Nahjib Guerra.

Jordy Polanco extended the lead in the 43’ with a free kick conversion from the center of midfield.

Michael Palacio added a third in the 66' after converting from a penalty kick opportunity.

Polanco completed his brace in the 73' with a left-footed shot at the right post, after receiving a cross from Gabriel Ramos.

Billy Forbes had a chance to cut the deficit in the 76' but his attempt from the penalty spot was denied by Belize goalkeeper Charles Tillett, who collected his first clean sheet of the campaign.

Belize jumps to the top of the group with three points and the tiebreaker on goal difference.

Bahamas vs. Barbados

Barbados won 3-2 over the Bahamas in Group A at the Bethlehem Soccer Complex in Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Zachary Applewhite opened the scoring in the 10' with an attempt from outside the box.

Brandon Adderley tied the match in the 42' with a header to connect with a corner kick service from Jordan Cheetham.

Brandon Adderley scored a second time in the 66' with a left-footed strike in front of goal to place the Bahamas in the lead.

Ethan Taylor put the match back on level terms in the 80' with a header of his own from a Barbados corner kick.

Andre Applewhaite struck the match-winner in the 82' with a hit from the left side of the box to collect all three points for Barbados.

The victory places Barbados at the top of the group on three points. The Bahamas and the U.S. Virgin Islands tied in the group’s opening encounter.

Cayman Islands vs. Saint Kitts and Nevis

Saint Kitts and Nevis won 4-1 against the Cayman Islands in Group C at the Truman Bodden Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands.

Kimaree Rogers struck the first goal in the 10' with a left-footed hit inside the box to connect with a long cross from the backfield by Malique Roberts.

Tiquanny Williams extended the lead in the 19' with a strike from the right side of the box after winning a contested ball.

Williams earned his brace in the 37' with a left-footed strike in the box to take advantage of a through ball from Gvaune Amory.

Mason Duval took one back for the hosts in the 51' with a header at the right post to connect with a cross from Joshwa Campbell.

Dionis Stephen added a fourth for Saint Kitts and Nevis in the 72' with a left-footed strike inside the box.

With the victory, Saint Kitts and Nevis jumped over the Cayman Islands for the group's top spot. Both nations have three points, but the Sugar Boyz took first place on goal difference.
