Blake, Calvo and Becker headline League A Best XI for October 2024

MIAMI – The October window of League A of the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League is now complete. Many players delivered top performances in the final two group stage matchups, yet these 11 players stood out the most at their respective positions.

Here is a look at the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League A Best XI for the group stage fixtures during October 2024:

Goalkeeper

Andre Blake, Jamaica

Blake was key for the Reggae Boyz to close out the group stage with four of six possible points, while not conceding any goals, to clinch the top spot in Group B. Jamaica’s goalkeeper kept two clean sheets against Nicaragua and Honduras in the final group stage fixtures. He recorded 11 saves and six clearances and an impressive 97.73% pass completion rate.

Defenders

Tayvon Gray, Jamaica

The right back clocked in an impressive shift playing full time in the Jamaica 2-nil win at Nicaragua. Gray commanded the right flank and contributed two clearances to help the back line keep a clean sheet.

Francisco Calvo, Costa Rica,

The Costa Rica captain returns to the League Best XI after featuring in September. Calvo started and featured the entirety of the team’s games in October as Los Ticos tied in Suriname and defeated Guatemala to clinch the top spot in Group A and advance to the quarterfinals for a second consecutive edition.

Calvo helped Costa Rica keep a clean sheet and scored a fantastic bicycle kick in the win against Guatemala. With the goal, Calvo goal took his tally to seven all-time in the CNL and extend his lead as the nation’s top scorer in the competition.

Damion Lowe, Jamaica

Lowe commanded a sturdy Jamaican defensive back line in the team’s valuable away win against Nicaragua. He recorded eight ball recoveries and a clearance in 98 minutes on the pitch.

Ridgeciano Haps, Suriname

Suriname made history by advancing to the CNL quarterfinals for the first time thanks to a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica and a 5-1 win over Guyana to claim second place in Group A. Haps owned the right flank, featuring the entirety of both games and was an offensive outlet for the team. He scored a goal and provided an assist in the win against Guyana.

Midfielders

Oscar Santis, Guatemala

Santis was one of Guatemala’s most influential players in the team’s closing group stage games in Group A. He scored a brace for Los Chapines in their first match of the October window to help secure the team secure a 3-2 win at Guyana.

Kervin Arriaga, Honduras

Arriaga returns to the CNL League A Best XI after featuring in September. Honduras clinched one of the top two spots in Group B to advance to quarterfinals, with Arriaga influential in midfield. He started both matches of the window for Los Catrachos, contributing with four ball recoveries, six shots, and recording a 90.91% pass completion rate.

Joevin Jones, Trinidad and Tobago

Jones was in stellar form to help the Socca Warriors secure fourth place in Group B to maintain League A status. He scored in each match as Trinidad and Tobago drew 2-2 and won 3-1 in consecutive matches against Cuba, taking his tally to five to extend his lead as the all-time top scorer in the CNL for Trinidad and Tobago. He also completed 90.28% of his passes.

Forwards

Sheraldo Becker, Suriname

One of the stars in attack with the opening two goals in Suriname’s key 5-1 win over Guyana, Becker helped his country finish second in Group A and move onto the quarterfinals. Becker was the top forward in League A in the October window with two goals, an assist and six shots.

Gleofilo Vlijter, Suriname

Vlijter continued to be one of Suriname’s star men in attack and helped the team secure its historic place in the quarterfinals. He scored the only goal to secure the valuable 1-1 draw on home soil against Costa Rica. With 12 goals, he the all-time scorer for Suriname in the CNL, while also being the third all-time scorer in the tournament. Vlijter contributed a goal, an assist and completed 100% of his passes in 156 minutes.

Mickael Biron, Martinique

Biron was a constant threat in attack for Martinique to close out the group stage with a win and a draw. He provided the match-winning assist in the 1-nil win against Guadeloupe, four ball recoveries, and six shots overall.
