MIAMI, Florida – Group A of League C of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League returns on Saturday with a key match-up between Bonaire and Anguilla at the Raymond E. Guishard Stadium in The Valley, Anguilla.
Simply put, for Bonaire this is a must-win affair and also one in which they need to triumph by a big scoreline in order to keep their hopes alive of winning the group and earning promotion to League B.
Bonaire currently sit on three points after two games, six points behind Saint Martin, who are on nine points through three matches.
At present, Saint Martin have a 14-goal advantage on goal difference with Bonaire, so no doubt the Bonaire attack will be looking to strike from the opening minute on Saturday.
The first meeting between these two sides resulted in a 2-0 victory for Bonaire on goals from Ginel Ronde and Marschelon Pourier. Sheehander Martinus is the other player that has found the back of the net for Bonaire in this CNL campaign.
Anguilla certainly showed a lot of fight in that narrow two-goal loss to Bonaire with GK Jelanie Lawrence making four saves.
Despite not getting a point from their first three matches, Anguilla have displayed plenty of spirit and would like nothing more than to close their Group A campaign on a positive note.
Saint Martin will also be attentive as to what happens in The Valley. Should Bonaire fail to win, Saint Martin would clinch the top spot in the group and earn promotion to League B.
