Burgos, Glasgow and Plumain head up League B Best XI

Published on

The 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League kicked off and six nations are off to undefeated starts in League B. Many players delivered outstanding performances, yet these 11 players stood out the most at their respective positions.

Here is a look at the 2023 Concacaf Nations League B Best XI for the September fixtures:

Goalkeeper

Vino Barclett, Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia is one of four teams tied for the fewest goals allowed (1) and Barclett is part of the reason for that with his five saves and four clearances. The 23-year-old looked like a seasoned professional in a clean sheet performance against Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Defenders

Oscar Acevedo, Nicaragua

The Nicaragua left back scored one of the goals of the tournament in the 2-0 victory against the Dominican Republic, where he was credited with the brace, and also provided an assist in the home victory over Barbados.

Alvinus Myers, Saint Lucia

Myers came on as a substitute against Sint Maarten to help close out three points on the road before going the distance against Saint Kitts and Nevis, helping the backline to a clean sheet performance. He contributed an assist and four clearances in his two appearances.

Noeh Hernandez, Puerto Rico

The young Hernandez played well beyond his years in his CNL debut, helping propel the Puerto Rico attack against the Bahamas and Antigua and Barbuda. He picked up his first assist, but was involved in many of the attacking efforts out of the back and is one of the players of the future to watch in the region.

Midfielders

Marlon Simmons, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

With 11 steals, Simmons was a rock in midfield for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. His play helped the team to consecutive wins including a goal against Belize.

Gregson President, Saint Lucia

President was one of the most influential players of any team with one goal and two assists across two appearances for Saint Lucia. He helped see out two important results and has his nation in the driver’s seat for their League A ambitions.

Gerald Diaz, Puerto Rico

Diaz did not let the September calendar end without putting his name in the co-lead for the League B Golden Boot. After scoring the opening goal in Puerto Rico’s first match, he delivered a hat-trick performance for a 2-0-0 start.

Joel Burgos, Puerto Rico

Burgos is directly responsible for four Puerto Rico goals with a hat-trick and an assist. He was an influential part of his nation’s 11 goals, making them the best CNL offense of the current campaign.

Forwards

Omari Glasgow, Guyana

Glasgow was a goal machine for Guyana with a hat-trick performance, an “Olimpico” style wondergoal and two assists. The 19-year-old has grown into a leader for his country in his second CNL campaign and co-leads the Golden Boot race.

Dominic Poleon, Saint Lucia

Poleon was the man of the match in Saint Lucia’s strong start against Sint Maarten. He was a dominant force on the field with a hat-trick performance and additionally picked up an assist.

Ange-Freddy Plumain, Guadeloupe

On a talented Guadeloupe team that had many strong contributors, Plumain was a key man with two goals and two assists. He was a menace on offense with five shots but also helped on the defensive side of things with eight steals.
