MIAMI, Florida – League C of the Concacaf Nations League always delivers spectacular individual performances, and the June window was no different. Here are the 11 players who stood out the most at their respective positions.
GK Jonas Lefeber, Bonaire – Bonaire are poised atop Group A with a five-point lead thanks in large part to Lefeber, who registered two clean sheets, along with 12 saves and 17 clearances in four matches.
DF Kurt Frederick, Saint Lucia – Not only did Frederick finish as the highest rated defender with two clearances and a steal, but his goal in the 2-0 win versus Anguilla was the 500th in CNL history.
DF Joshewa Frederick-Charlery, Cayman Islands – Frederick-Charlery was an absolute workhorse for Cayman Islands, finishing with 15 clearances and six steals in their two matches.
DF Zarek Valentin, Puerto Rico – Puerto Rico achieved promotion thanks in part to the efforts of Valentin, who had a goal and three clearances while completing almost 92 percent of his passes.
MF Junior Paul, Turks and Caicos Islands – Paul was a vacuum cleaner in midfield for Turks and Caicos Islands, with an eye-popping 17 steals and three goals, including both scores in the 2-0 win versus Sint Maarten.
MF Kay Gerritsen, Sint Maarten – After failing to garner a single point in the last edition of the CNL, Sint Maarten got five points from four games, with Gerritsen playing a big role. He had a goal and two assists, plus six steals and completed almost 90 percent of his passes.
MF Ayrton Cicilia, Bonaire – No player has scored more goals in the 2022-23 CNL than Cicilia, whose five goals is tops across League A, League B and League C. He also had two assists and contributed on defense with four steals.
MF Darren Rios, Puerto Rico – Rios finished as the highest rated midfielder by completing 93 percent of his passes in helping the Boricuas clinch promotion to League B. He also had a goal and an assist to go along with four steals.
FW Gerwin Lake, Sint Maarten – Lake played a big role in Sint Maarten’s improvement as well, scoring four goals in the 8-2 win against Turks and Caicos Islands. He also had two assists.
FW Ricardo Rivera, Puerto Rico – Rivera was a force to be reckoned with in attack for Puerto Rico, scoring four goals in the 6-0 victory against British Virgin Islands. In two games he completed 100 percent of his passes and had an assist.
FW Billy Forbes, Turks and Caicos Islands – Forbes always turns it on in Concacaf play and added another two goals to his international tally, along with an assist in four games.
