BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Dominica and Anguilla are both gearing up for their second match of the 2022/23 Concacaf Nations League in Group C of League C, having played to a scoreless draw on Thursday in The Valley in Anguilla.
That result gave Anguilla their first ever point in the Nations League, and set off a roar from the home crowd when the final whistle blew. Dominica had more in control of the match and were aiming for a win, but now they have their chance at revenge on less hostile soil at Warner Park in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
It will be interesting to see what tactical changes are made after a few days of planning; Dominica coach Rajesh Latchoo will no doubt spend the time coming up with new ideas for breaking down an Anguilla defense that held his side scoreless.
Another factor in the equation is Anguilla goalkeeper Danniell Bailey, who put in a man of the match performance in the opener. If Bailey performs at that same level again, Dominica will find it tough to get much past him.
That said, Dominica never ceased to be dangerous throughout the first match, managing 12 shots and several dangerous crosses. A similar showing may well be enough for the three points on Sunday.
After Thursday’s result, Anguilla will ride into this match on a three-match unbeaten streak, while Dominica enters on a five-match unbeaten streak.
