MIAMI, Florida – Troy Jules scored a goal in each half to pave the way for a 3-0 victory for Dominica over Turks and Caicos Islands in Group C play of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League closes on Tuesday afternoon at the TCIFA National Academy in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.
It is the second Concacaf Nations League victory for Dominica and lifts them to the top spot in the group, just ahead of British Virgin Islands on goal difference with three points after one match. Turks and Caicos Islands are third with no points through two matches.
Jules struck for his first goal in the 18’ when he hauled in a diagonal ball just inside the area, took a touch and hammered a left-footed shot into the top left corner of net for a 1-0 Dominica lead.
Dominica were keen to find a second goal and had a bevy of opportunities through Julian Wade, but it was Jules who would once again prove decisive with the visitors’ second goal in the 64’.
Keeyan Thomas flipped a pass over to Jules just inside the area and the finish was powerful enough to beat Turks and Caicos Islands GK Sebastian Turbyfield for a 2-0 Dominican advantage.
There was no let up from Dominica and they would put the three points on ice in second half stoppage time thanks to a strong right-footed finish from Briel Thomas to complete the 3-0 scoreline.
