MIAMI, Florida – The third day of Matchday Two of 2019/20 Concacaf Nations League Qualifying saw El Salvador and Martinique earn a pair of tough wins, while Suriname and Guyana rolled to victory.

El Salvador’s returned to the friendly confines of the Estadio Custactlan in San Salvador and picked up a 3-0 win over Barbados.

Nelson Bonilla gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 22’ and then 20 minutes later Gilberto Baires fired in a right-footed shot to make it 2-0. Barbados tried to muster a comeback, but El Salvador was too strong and Gerson Mayen polished off the 3-0 scoreline in the 93’.

The win gives El Salvador a 2W-0D-0L, 5GF 1GC record, while Barbados now sits at 0W-1D-1L, 2GF 5GC.

It was an emotional afternoon at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, as Puerto Rico played its first match at home since last fall’s Hurricane Maria. In the end, the Boricua side came up just short as Martinique emerged with the three points following a 1-0 victory.

Puerto Rico GK Cody Laurendi made a pair of sensational saves in the first half to keep things scoreless going into halftime, but there was nothing he could do to stop Kevin Parsemain’s 47’ minute header, which held up the rest of the way for Martinique in what was the CNL debut for Les Matinino.

Puerto Rico is 0W-0D-2L, 0GF 2GC, while Martinique is 1W-0D-0L, 1GF 0GC.

After playing to a 1-1 draw in its CNL opener, Guyana was very impressive in pocketing an 8-0 triumph over Turks and Caicos Islands at the TCIFA National Academy in Providenciales.

Leading the way was Sheldon Holder, who scored a first-half hat trick (7’, 37’, 45’), while Emery Welshman recorded a hat trick of his own (20’, 69’, 81’). Trayon Bobb (45+1’) – the man who scored the very first CNL goal on Matchday One against Barbados – and a Marcdonald Fenelus own goal in the 77’ would round out the scoring for the Golden Jaguars.

Guyana’s record now stands at 1W-1D-0L, 10GF 2GC following the win, while Turks and Caicos Islands drops to 0W-0D-2L, 0GF 19GC.

Suriname also collected its first win of the CNL at home at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium in Rainville with a convincing 5-0 win against British Virgin Islands, who was making its CNL debut.

Suriname controlled things from start to finish and Stefano Rijssel opened the scoring in the 23’ before Brian Elshot doubled the lead in the 42’. The hosts kept rolling in the second half and added another three scores through Donnegy Fer (65’), Rijssel’s second of the night in the 76’ and the capper by Ivenzo Comvalius in the 82’.

Suriname improved its record to 1W-1D-0L, 5GF 0GC, while British Virgin Islands is 0W-0D-1L, 0GF 5GC.
