Group leaders stay intact after consecutive wins in League C

MIAMI – Belize, Barbados and Saint Kitts and Nevis remained leaders of their respective groups as League C continued in the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League on Tuesday.

The three leading nations earned a second consecutive victory with clean sheet performances from their goalkeepers. Tiquanny Williams shined for Saint Kitts and Nevis with another brace, accumulating four goals in two matches.

Belize vs. Anguilla

Belize won 1-nil against Anguilla to continue as first place in Group B at TCIFA National Stadium in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. The two nations met for the first time in the Concacaf Nations League and in their history.

Jordy Polanco scored the lone goal of the match in the 26’ with a right-footed hit from inside the penalty arc. The goal is Polanco’s third in two matches and fifth overall to extend his record as the nation’s all-time CNL scorer.

Charles Tillett provided three saves to secure his second clean sheet of the season.

Barbados vs. U.S. Virgin Islands

Barbados won 3-nil against the U.S. Virgin Islands to maintain its lead in Group A at the Bethlehem Soccer Complex in Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands. 

Carl Hinkson opened the scoring in the 15’ with a right-footed strike from outside the box to find the inside of the left post.

Niall Reid-Stephen extended the lead in the 86', striking inside the box as he advanced the ball towards the penalty area amid defensive pressure.

Khalil Vanderpool-Nurse added a third in the 90'+3 to put a bow on the victory as Barbados improved to six points.

Kishmar Primus made two saves as he collected his first clean sheet.

Saint Kitts and Nevis vs. British Virgin Islands

Saint Kitts and Nevis won 2-nil against the British Virgin Islands to stay in first in Group C at the Truman Bodden Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands. The two nations met for the first time in CNL play.

Tiquanny Williams scored in the 11’ to place Saint Kitts and Nevis in the lead, collecting his third goal in two matches in the process.

Williams struck again in the 64’ by pouncing on a backwards pass to earn a brace for the second consecutive match.

Julani Archibald made two saves as he picked up his first clean sheet of the 2024/25 edition.
