Guadeloupe, Guyana earn away victories in CNL Play-In first legs

MIAMI – The 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League continued with two first-leg matches in the Play-In round on Friday, as Guadeloupe and Guyana earned away victories to kick off their respective series.

The Concacaf Nations League Play-In consists of a home-and-away direct elimination round. The aggregate score winner in each matchup will advance to the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup Prelims.

Cayman Islands vs. Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe 6-nil at the Cayman Islands in the first leg of their Play-In series at the Truman Bodden Stadium in George Town, Cayman Islands.

Raphael Mirval struck the opening goal in the 12' off a free kick service from Anthony Baron.

Jordan Leborgne extended the lead in the 37' with a right-footed hit inside the penalty arc.

Ange Plumain struck from short distance in the 41' as Guadeloupe capitalized on another free-kick opportunity. 

Vikash Tille added a fourth for the visitors in the 64' with a power hit from outside the box.

Kenny Mixtur made it 5-nil in the 71', connecting on a service into the box from Zoran Moco.

Moco contributed to the sixth goal of the night by sending another dangerous ball into the area, forcing an own goal from Dominic Owens in the 90'.

Guadeloupe will host the Cayman Islands in the second leg on Tuesday at Stade Roger Zami in Le Gosier, Guadeloupe.

 

Barbados vs. Guyana

Guyana won 4-1 at Barbados in the first leg of their Play-In series at the Barbados Football Association Technical Centre in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Niall Reid-Stephen opened the scoring in the 17' with a left-footed strike from inside the penalty arc. The goal marks Reid-Stephen’s seventh in the current campaign.

Omari Glasgow equalized in the 26' with a left-footed strike inside the penalty area, playing off Osaze de Rosario.

Glasgow added a second to his tally in the 59' by pouncing on a deflected ball in the penalty area.

Osaze de Rosario extended the lead in the 60' with a chip over the goalkeeper to capitalize on an error from the defense.

Enoch George scored in the 90'+2 to put a bow on the victory, connecting on a timely pass from Isaiah Jones.

Guyana will host Barbados in the second leg on Tuesday at the National Track and Field Centre in Leonora, Guyana.
