GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala -- Guatemala closed out a perfect Concacaf Nations League campaign in Group C of League C with a 5-0 victory over visiting Puerto Rico on Saturday night.

With the win, they have earned promotion to League B and a spot in the Gold Cup qualifiers next March.

Only three minutes passed before Carlos Gallardo opened the scoring with a well-placed header to get Guatemala off to a flying start.

Alejandro Galindo stretched the lead to two from the spot in the 20th minute, sniping his penalty into the top right corner.

Stefano Cincotta notched a third via a low free kick just before the halftime whistle in the 45+1’, giving the home side a comfortable 3-0 cushion at the break.

Guatemala kept up the pressure in the second half, with Yeltsin Alvarez tapping in a goal in the 56th minute, his first ever international score.

Luis Martinez got one more for Los Chapines in the 82nd minute with a powerful header past Leftie Millan.

The Guatemalans finish the group undefeated and unscored upon, with a staggering +25 goal differential. They scored at least five goals in every match.

Puerto Rico have one game remaining, when they host Anguilla later this week.
