MIAMI. Guyana took a six-point lead atop Group D of League B, as the 2023–24 Concacaf Nations League reached its conclusion for the month of October.
Omari Glasgow scored once more to increase his tally to six and retake a share of first place in the scoring charts. Group C remains wide open with three points separating first and last place.
Antigua and Barbuda vs. Bahamas
Antigua and Barbuda drew 2-2 with the Bahamas at the ABFA Technical Center in Piggotts, Antigua and Barbuda.
Nathan Wells drew the first goal of the match in the 5’ as a Bahamas free kick was ill-defended and developed into a second chance opportunity for the visitors.
William Bayles nearly extended the lead for the visitors in the 23’ on another free kick opportunity for Bahamas, but goalkeeper Zaieem Scott was able to get his hands on the attempt.
Javorn Stevens was on the doorstep in the 39’ but Michael Butler intercepted the ball to keep the Bahamas from conceding.
Joshua Parker broke through for the hosts in the 53’ after receiving the ball at the top of the arc and getting the right touch to beat Scott.
Thomas James Bramble then took the lead for Antigua and Barbuda in the 59’ to cap off a build-up that started on the left flank from Raheem Deterville and was crossed over to the far post and assisted by Parker.
Nahum Johnson tied the encounter in the 82’ after getting the finishing touch on a throw-in from Lesly St Fleur.
Guyana vs. Puerto Rico
Guyana was victorious, 3-1, against Puerto Rico at the SKNFA Technical Center in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Liam Gordon was denied in the 38’ as Joel Serrano blocked the attempt with his right leg to keep the match scoreless.
Gerald Díaz struck first as the visitors took the lead in the 41’ on a long ball from Serrano to surprise the defense.
Nathan Moriah-Welsh equalized for Guyana in the 48’ with an interception on a Puerto Rico clearance straight into goal.
Deon Moore put Guyana in the lead in the 76’ with a header inside the box. Stephen Duke-McKenna provided the cross for the assist.
Glasgow pounced on a defensive error himself for a third Guyana goal in the 85’ to put the result further out of reach for Puerto Rico.
The visitors were down to 10 men in the 87’ as Nicolas Cardona was red-carded and suspended for the next match.
Bermuda vs. Belize
Bermuda and Belize tied 1-1 at the Dame Flora Duffy Sports Complex in Devonshire Parish, Bermuda.
Jai Bean had Bermuda’s first good look in the 7’ as the hosts wanted to be proactive from the start.
Carlos Bernardez was denied in the 35’ by Bermuda GK Dale Eve. The ensuing corner nearly produced the first goal, but Luke Robinson was there at the second post to clear out any danger.
Kane Crichlow got the opening goal in the 37’ as Bermuda finally broke through the Belize defense. Jahron Myvette blocked Crichlow’s first attempt, but the second opportunity had enough power to get past Belize GK Charles Tillett.
A long-range attempt from Bermuda’s Ne-Jai Tucker in the 50’ had the makings to be one of the goals of the tournament, but Tillett got a hand on it just in the nick of time to push it over the bar.
Eldon Reneau pulled Belize level in the 75’ from the penalty spot after he was taken down in the box on the prior play.
Remy Coddington had a shot on frame from a free kick on the last play of the game for Bermuda, but Tillett captured it as both sides shared the spoils.
