MIAMI – Curaçao, Haiti, Saint Lucia, and Puerto Rico earned victories in League B as the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League continued on Monday.
Curaçao and Saint Lucia took wins in Group B action at Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St. George's, Grenada. Saint Lucia maintained a perfect start to take the first-place spot among the quartet, while Curaçao rose to second with its first victory of the campaign.
Haiti and Puerto Rico cruised to victory in their Group C encounters at Estadio Centroamericano in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Haiti maintained the top spot in the group with its second win and Puerto Rico jumped to second after collecting its first three points.
Curaçao vs. Saint Martin
Curaçao collected its first League B victory in a 4-nil result against Saint Martin.
Juninho Bacuna scored in the 10’ after making a full sprint from midfield on a transition play.
Gervane Kastaneer doubled the lead in the 13’, despite his initial shot getting blocked, with a header on a second chance opportunity.
Leandro Bacuna struck the third in the 48’ as he gathered the ball in the box with a good first touch.
Joshua Zimmerman delivered the last goal of the encounter in the 65’ as a redirected header fell to him for a headed goal of his own.
Haiti vs. Sint Maarten
Haiti won 6-nil against Sint Maarten to increase its lead atop Group C.
Duckens Nazon led the way with a hat trick in the second half, and Mikael Cantave added a pair off the bench for the brace.
Attys Christopher started the scoring in the 40’ with a header off a corner kick.
Duckens Nazon opened his account in the 59’ with a header of his own.
Nazon secured his brace in the 75’ before Mikael Cantave extended Haiti’s lead in the 77’. Nazon completed his hat-trick in the 82’ as Cantave earned his brace in the 85’.
Haiti goalkeeper Jhony Placide collected his first clean sheet of the campaign. Haiti has ten goals to lead League B in scoring through two games.
Grenada vs. Saint Lucia
Saint Lucia defeated Grenada 2-1 to earn the top spot in Group B.
Christian Forino Joseph placed Saint Lucia in front in the 13’ with a header after Alvinus Myers whipped in a perfect corner kick.
Donavan Jn Baptiste pounced on an errant pass back from the Grenada defense to extend the lead in the 21’ for the visitors.
Lucas Akins cut the deficit in the 51', after Darius Johnson dribbled through defenders to feed his teammate in the box.
Saint Lucia goalkeeper Vino Barclett was crucial with six saves to deny Grenada an equalizer.
Aruba vs. Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico earned its first victory, 1-nil, against Aruba in a tightly contested encounter.
Leandro Antonetti scored the lone goal in the 73’ with a header off a short free kick to break the deadlock and deliver the first three points of the campaign.
