MIAMI, Florida – For the second time in three days, Jamaica and Suriname will face off in Group A of League A of the 2022-23 Concacaf Nations League, this time on Tuesday night at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
The two sides squared off on Saturday in Paramaribo and played to an entertaining 1-1 draw. Jamaica struck first through Junior Flemmings in the first half, but the second half entrance of 2019-20 CNL top scorer Gleofilo Vlijter gave Suriname a second half spark, leading to a late equalizer and a share of the spoils.
In a curious twist, it was the first draw between Jamaica and Suriname in their head-to-head series, dating back seven previous matches to 1966.
Jamaica will feel very comfortable being back on home soil in CNL play. The Reggae Boyz won both home matches in CNL Qualifying, including a 2-1 triumph over Suriname in November 2018, before following that up with two wins and a draw in the 2019-20 tournament.
However, Suriname were just as effective on the road in the last CNL, posting two away wins and a draw.

Grenada vs. El Salvador
Also on the docket on Tuesday is a rematch between Grenada and El Salvador in Group D of League A at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada.
The two sides met on Saturday night at the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador where El Salvador came away with a 3-1 win on the strength of a Nelson Bonilla brace.
It was an electric start, with Bonilla scoring inside the first two minutes before Grenada attacker Alexander McQueen produced one of the goals of the tournament thus far with a half-volley rocket just three minutes later.
Grenada will hope that their home form from the previous CNL will carry into the present edition. The Spice Boys won all three matches in front of the home fans in 2019-20, while El Salvador finished with a very good 2W-0D-1L record away from home in the 2019-20 CNL.
