MIAMI, Florida – League C of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League returns on Thursday with a pair of key contests.
Bonaire vs. Anguilla
A pair of teams searching for their first victory of the campaign will meet as Bonaire host Anguilla in Group A action at the Stadion Antonio Trenidat in Rincon, Bonaire.
Neither side were able to get a result in their opening match during the September window, with both losing to Saint Martin. Anguilla suffered a 6-0 on home soil, while Bonaire saw a late 1-0 lead slip through their fingers in a 2-1 defeat.
This will be the first ever meeting between these two sides, and more importantly, a golden opportunity to get back into the mix for the top spot in Group A.
Anguilla will attempt to find their first goal of this CNL, while also lock things down defensively. Bonaire performed well in their opener against Saint Martin and got a big goal from Sheehander Martinus. Bonaire will also look to Jonathan Libania and Yurick Seinpaal for some inspiration in attack.
Dominica vs. British Virgin Islands
The battle for the top spot in Group C will be at stake when Dominica host British Virgin Islands at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia.
Each side comes into the encounter with three points thanks to respective victories over Turks and Caicos Islands in the September window.
BVI’s 3-1 triumph was a historic one, as it served as their first ever CNL victory. The stars of the show were Troy Caesar and Luka Chalwell, with Caesar opening the scoring and then Chalwell adding a brace.
Dominica were just as explosive in their September match, downing Turks and Caicos Islands by a 3-0 scoreline. Troy Jules wreaked havoc on the day for Dominica with a brace, before veteran attacker Briel Thomas added a late goal.
This will be their 10th all-time meeting, with Dominica leading the series with eight wins and a draw. Their last match-up came in 2016 in qualifying for the 2017 Caribbean Cup in a 7-0 win for Dominica.
