MIAMI, Florida – League C of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League finished up on Tuesday night with Saint Martin downing Bonaire 4-0 in the finale of Group A at the Stadion Antonio Trenidat in Rincon, Bonaire.
Saint Martin claim the group with a perfect four wins from four matches and have been promoted to League B for the first time.
Despite defeat, Bonaire have also secured promotion to League B as the best-ranked second-place team.
Saint Martin wasted no time in finding the back of the net, as Randy Gentes gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 3’ when he turned in a cross from Keelan Lebon.
Lebon then set aside his role as playmaker to become a goal-scorer in the 13’, giving Saint Martin a 2-0 advantage with a curling right-footed effort that hit off the post and into net.
Saint Martin would squeeze in a third goal just before the halftime whistle with Gentes scoring his second of the night when he pounced on a loose ball in the area and fired home to make it 3-0.
The visitors kept their foot on the gas to start the second half and the lead was extended to 4-0 in the 46’ when a cross from the right took a deflection, allowing Emmanuel Richardson to latch onto it and score.
From there the Saint Martin defense took over to nail down the three points and clinch a first-place spot and promotion to League B.
