PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago. – A historic result came about for both sides involved as Trinidad and Tobago earned a 1-0 victory over Bahamas in Group C of League B of the 2022-23 Concacaf Nations League at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Trinidad and Tobago took the lead four minutes into the match thanks to a corner kick, as Neveal Hackshaw converted with a header off the service from Noah Powder.
The Soca Warriors continued to stay aggressive in search of extending the lead with a strike from Duane Muckette that was denied by the woodwork in the 12th minute.
Hackshaw then got a chance on frame as he tried to secure a brace, but Bahamas goalkeeper Julio Jemison kept the deficit to the minimum difference.
The home side continued with the same intensity in attack during the second half, and Levi Garcia had consecutive opportunities on target in the 48th, 49th and 50th minutes, but the 1-0 scoreline remained intact.
Omari Bain had the best opportunities on the day for the visitors in the 63rd and 79th minutes, but Trinidad and Tobago GK Marvin Phillip would see out the clean sheet.
Trinidad and Tobago obtained its first CNL victory to put an end to a five-match winless run dating back to the previous edition of the tournament. The opposite is the case for Bahamas, who saw an end to its five-match unbeaten run.
