RAZGRAD, Bulgaria – Canada international goalkeeper Milan Borjan signed with Ludogorets Razgrad, the club announced Friday.
The emergency acquisition comes just days before the Bulgarian side’s visit to Liverpool on September 16 in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League opener for each. Regular goalkeeper Vladislav Stoyanov is suspended for the encounter, while reserve Ivan Cvorovic will miss out due to an injury.
Borjan, whose career has taken him to multiple clubs in Europe and South America, has been a free agent since his contract with Turkey’s Sivasspor was ended earlier in the year.
The 26-year-old played in Canada’s 3-1 win over Jamaica on Tuesday for his 19th cap. He has appeared in five CONCACAF Gold Cup games and a pair of World Cup qualifiers.
