Canada WNT star Buchanan adds to international success

MIAMI, Florida – Canada Women’s National Team DF Kadeisha Buchanan has added yet another title to her already impressive resume following Olympique Lyon’s 3-1 victory over Wolfsburg in the Final of the 2019-20 UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Since joining the French outfit in January 2017, Buchanan has played in a Canadian record 16 UEFA Women’s Champions League matches and has won four straight UEFA Women’s Champions League titles with Lyon.

The 24-year-old Brampton, Ontario native has enjoyed a fruitful 2020, taking home a silver medal at the 2020 Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship, which qualified Canada for the Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Buchanan, who is a two-time Canada Soccer Player of the year (2015, 2017), was also selected into the Best XI for the 2020 CWOQ and was named Canada Soccer Player of the Month in February.

Among some of her other accomplishments with Canada’s Senior Team include a Bronze Medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, a silver medal at the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship, plus gold medal finishes at the 2015 Four Nations Tournament and the 2016 Algarve Cup.

In addition to winning a silver medal at the 2012 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship, Buchanan was also named the Best Young Player at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in her native Canada and was selected to the FIFA FIFPro World XI that same year.

Overall, Buchanan has 101 appearances with the Canadian Women’s National Team, with 94 starts, four goals and three assists.
