MIAMI, Florida – Christian Pulisic continues to be one of the leaders for the United States Men’s National Team and at club side Chelsea, and 2022 proved to be another big year for the attacking midfielder.

Because of his strong performances for club and country, the 24-year-old has been nominated for the 2022 Concacaf Men’s Player of the Year award.

It was a significant year for Pulisic in that he helped the U.S. return to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since Brazil 2014.

He appeared in six Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers for Qatar 2022 during the calendar year, scoring four goals. His first was a strike in the 3-0 win over Honduras, followed by a hat trick performance in the commanding 5-1 win versus Panama.

Prior to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Pulisic also played in three friendly matches with the U.S., plus the team’s 1-1 draw at El Salvador in the 2022-23 Concacaf Nations League match in League A.

However, it was at Qatar 2022 where Pulisic excelled, with a goal and two assists, meaning he had a hand in all three U.S. goals in the tournament.

Pulisic supplied the assist on Timothy Weah’s goal in the opening 1-1 draw with Wales, followed by the scoring the lone goal in the 1-0 triumph over Iran, which qualified the U.S. for the knockout stage. Pulisic then contributed the assist on Haji Wright’s goal in the 3-1 U.S. defeat against the Netherlands in the Round of 16.

With club side Chelsea, Pulisic was just as valuable, helping the Blues reach the Final of both the 2021-22 FA Cup and the 2021-22 EFL Cup.

During the calendar year in Premier League action in 2022, Pulisic appeared in 26 games and scored five goals, while playing five matches in the FA Cup and two matches in the EFL Cup, plus two goals in eight UEFA Champions League matches and a start in the 2022 UEFA Super Cup.
