Concacaf’s representation at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is set after Panama defeated Paraguay in the final FIFA Intercontinental Playoff, becoming the sixth Concacaf team to book their ticket for Australia and New Zealand this summer.

The Confederation’s President, Victor Montagliani, has congratulated Panama for such an important victory, and highlighted the record number of Concacaf teams who will compete in the World Cup this summer.

President Montagliani said: “First and foremost I want to congratulate Panama for their victory. The players worked incredibly hard and thoroughly deserve their spot at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. It is a testament to their hard work, and they can now look ahead to what promises to be a great tournament this summer. With six Concacaf teams now qualified to Australia and New Zealand it will be tremendous for the Confederation to have such fantastic representation at a World Cup. The players and coaches, and their federations, of course deserve the credit. And while there remains more work to do to, I believe we are now truly beginning to see the benefits of the Concacaf W strategy that we launched in 2019 to prioritize the development of women’s football across the region. Congratulations to all six teams who will compete on the global stage this summer – it will be a privilege to see them showcase their skills at the highest level of the game.”

The six Concacaf women’s national teams qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand are: Canada, Costa Rica, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, United States.
