MIAMI, Florida – This Tuesday the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia kicks off with tournament hosts Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia facing 2023 Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League winners Auckland City of New Zealand at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
A team of Concacaf referees will officiate the opening match, with Tori Penso of the United States serving as the Head Referee.
Penso, who was the Head Referee for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final, will be joined by Assistant Referees Brooke Mayo and Kathryn Nesbitt, both of the United States.
This will be Nesbitt’s second time serving as an Assistant Referee in the Club World Cup, having done so in the 2022 edition.
Nicaragua’s Tatiana Guzman will serve as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
