MIAMI, Florida – On Thursday at The Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich Switzerland, three players hailing from the Concacaf region were voted to their respective FIFA FIFPro World XI.

Canadian National Team DF Alphonso Davies was selected to the Men’s World XI as one of four Bayern Munich players honored, and at age 20 Davies is the third-youngest player to receive a Men’s World XI award.

The former Vancouver Whitecap enjoyed a successful 2020 with the German club in which he became the first Canadian men’s national team player to win the UEFA Champions League.

Earlier this month, Davies also collected his second Canadian Men’s Player of the Year award in just three years.

United States FWs Tobin Heath and Megan Rapinoe were voted to the Women’s World XI, the fifth consecutive year in which a Concacaf player has been named to the Women’s World XI since its inception in 2016.

Heath, who started the year with the Portland Thorns of the NWSL prior to joining Manchester United WFC, received the honor for the first time in her career, while Rapinoe of OL Reign of the NWSL was named to her second Women’s World XI [2019].

Heath becomes the 10th different U.S. player voted to a World XI.

Both Heath and Rapinoe enjoyed success on the international stage this year, helping lead the U.S. to the title at the 2020 Concacaf Women Olympic Qualifying Championship.
