MIAMI, Florida – United States Women’s National Team players Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan were selected to the 2021 FIFA FIFPRO Women’s XI on Monday at The Best FIFA Football Awards.

The voting was conducted by FIFPRO, which is the global union for professional football players.

It was the third time that Lloyd, a 39-year-old MF, earned a place on the FIFA FIFPRO World XI, after achieving that feat in both 2015 and 2016. It caps a remarkable career for the two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, who retired from football in 2021.

Lloyd enjoyed an excellent season in her final year as a professional by scoring 11 goals in 2021, including a pair of scores to help the United States to a 4-3 win over Australia in the Bronze Medal Match at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Lloyd also scored six goals in 2021 with NWSL side NY/NJ Gotham FC.

Morgan earned her fourth appearance in the FIFA FIFPRO Women’s XI, achieving that distinction as well in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

The 32-year-old FW scored eight goals in 20 games with the USWNT in 2021, including one in a 5-1 win against New Zealand in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where the U.S. won the Bronze Medal.

Morgan also had five goals in 15 appearances in 2021 with the Orlando Pride of the NWSL.
